Art Impressions Watercolouring

This past weekend I attended the CKC show in Manchester, New Hampshire.  I spent a couple of hours watching Kendra at the Art Impressions booth watercolouring some of their new stamps.  From her tutorial I was able to create the following two cards.

Star Gazing – Lavinia Stamps

It has been almost a year since I posted but I never stopped creating I just never found the time to add my work. I hope to fix that over the next couple of weeks. Todays creation started with two stamps from Lavinia Stamps; Star Gazing and Meadow Grass. Once I had the stamps picked out I started creating my background. The paper is 140 pound Hot Press Water Colour paper. I inked the background from top to bottom with Tim Holtz colours; Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky, Green Moss and Expresso. Once I was happy with the background I started stamping the grass, then the star gazing couple and then the grass. All were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, I then coloured the images with Copic Black 100, the rocks with Touch Markers CG9 and CG7. I then made the stars by mixing Copic Opaque White with water and then spraying the card so it looks like stars.  I have jars of MicroBeads in all colours of the rainbow so I used them add some depth to the Meadow Grass.  The wings on my fairies are coloured with Stampin Up Gold Glitz Dazzling Details.  Finally I added the moon, this was created using Opalite Sterling Frost.

Lover Time

I had a really busy weekend, but still found time to play.  Here is a card I created for the mixability challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  I started by painting the cardstock with gesso, then I added a layer of Tim Holtz distress stains, then I stamped the background with Hero Arts Clock background stamp, then I added the Tim Holtz clock stamp, I was not happy with the background so I used the Tim Holtz clock stencil and inked the stencil with gathered twigs, still not happy so I added Inka gold and Inka Blue to highlight areas.  I am finally happy with the outcome.  Next I moved onto the clock, wings and heart. The clock is sprayed with Dylusions ink, I lapped up the overspray with the wings, once everything was dry I highlighted the wings with a Sharpie Paint white marker, then I painted with Tim Holtz rock candy crackle paint and let dry.  While it was drying I punched out the heart in red cardstock, inked it with gathered twigs stain, then I embossed the imaged three times adding mica flakes to the embossing when it was hot, the arrow was left over from a project I did last valentines so I have no idea what I did to it to get it that tone but it worked so voila.

Valentines love

Todays creation includes a Julie Nutting stamp, a Kaiser craft stamp, flowers by Prima and flowers by Dea.  The ribbon along the bottom is actually CTMH material cut into strips and gathered, then I added ribbon from michaels ontop to cover the stitching.

Simple Cards

The weather has been horrible the past couple of days so I have locked myself in my craft room and have undertaken a mission.  I am going to make clean and simple cards using up scraps from my scrap pile, I am also going to start using some of those items that I bought but have just not gotten around to using.

The following cards were created with Memory Box – Chloe die.

And these cards were made with a set of stamps I received from a class I took at CKC Manchester.  The class was called Kick Start by Technique Tuesday.  The stamp set is really cute and works great with clean and simple as the stamps are quite small as you will see in the card set I created.

As usual, my photography lacks lighting but you get the idea.  Thanks for stopping by and stay safe.

Prima Marketing – Priscilla meets Tim Holtz

Todays creation is inspired by Trina St. Michaels Steampunk class that she taught at Crop A While here in Ottawa, ON Canada. My background is created with Watercolour wax crayons, I then cut out and added the balloons with ek tools Gloss Glace, from their I added the different flowers from Prima and the cogs are Tim Holtz, so are the spinners and the clock.  The mocking jay is from the new movie release Catching Fire.  Pricilla is dressed in suede paper and various prima papers.

I hope you like what you see.

Happy 5th Anniversary

Today I celebrate five years of marriage to my soul mate and best friend.  Warren this ones for you lover….

The traditional gift at five years is wood so I have created a photo album celebrating out five years together using this wood frame available at Hobby Lobby.  The idea came to me when I saw a similar one posted on Prima Marketing site.  This album has five pages for photos and journalling – that is one page for each year of marriage.

Prima Marketing – Julie Nutting Mindy meets Lizzy

Pictures of my Son, his family and my parents, and two pictures of my darling grand daughter.  These pictures are a little old but I am finally getting around to finishing her album and I am gathering photos from everywhere.  For this page I am using Mindy to represent Lizzy as she is today to what she was when the photos were taken.  Lizzy is maturing into a beautiful young women from an amazing young girl.

Mixed Media – Prima Marketing – Bloom Collection – Gardenia

Todays creation started with cardboard, an image of Gardenia and pink tissue paper.

I gesso’d the cardboard, modgepodge the tissue paper then I added the snow flakes and let everything dry.  Once dry, I spritzed everything with Dylusion Spray – Crushed Grape and London Blue.  Now keep in mind the tissue paper was pink so I now have very intense colours.

I then coloured with copics Gardenia and fussy cut her.  The dress on her is created with stickles and gelato to give the pink blue hue.  The Snowflakes are cut out with my punches and silhouette, the flowers are Prima Marketing, the letters are cut out using the Silhouette Cameo as well, the flourish at the bottom made with pears is hand formed using pearl strands I had hanging around.

Once I had everything layed out and glued down I added some extra touches, I outlined the snowflakes to give them depth, I added pearls and more stickles to some of the snowflakes, the letters are highlighted with smooch.  My only problem now is to find a way to flatten the board without loosing the depth and to learn to take a decent picture.

Mixed Media – Faber Castell – Gelatos

I created todays mixed media using Faber Castell gelatos on a piece of cardboard that was prepared first with gesso, then stamped with Tim Holtz Stamp nature stamp set on the back ground and a second piece of cardboard.  I then randomly cut one piece of dressed cardboard into different sizes, layered them then I adorned the mat and pieces with Prima Marketing flowers, recollections flowers, flowers by Dea and curly’s by Dea.

I love how the colours blend and the way the blues and greens pop on this piece.

My inspiration came from a tutorial I found on you tube for Gelatos
